We laid wide-plank white oak flooring end to end so the eye reads one continuous room. The cabinetry runs in a soft greige with shaker fronts and slim brass pulls, balanced against a black gas range, black hood, and a matte black undermount sink. A textured stone backsplash in a faint diamond pattern carries light without competing with the warm metal. Open niches frame the range wall for spice and oil, keeping the upper run visually quiet. At the far end we built a banquette dining nook under a brass cage pendant. Plantation shutters filter the western light into long bands across the floor in the late afternoon. Green velvet tub chairs and a round white oak pedestal table soften the geometry of the galley. The adjacent bath continues the palette with fluted plaster walls, hexagonal floor tile, honed Calacatta counters, and black tapware. A skylight over the green vanity throws daylight onto twin arched mirrors. Every move stays in service of the same idea. A small home that cooks hard, sits down together, and still feels generous on a Tuesday night.
