Our commitment
New Key Construction is a luxury design-build studio in Walnut Creek, California. We want everyone to be able to read about our work, understand our process, and reach us, regardless of ability or the technology they use. Accessibility is part of how we think about craft. We treat this website with the same care we bring to a home, and we work to keep it usable for people who rely on screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions, or other assistive technology.
Conformance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. We consider Level AA a practical, meaningful standard for a site like ours, and we treat it as an ongoing target rather than a one-time checkbox.
Measures we take
- We build pages with semantic HTML, so headings, lists, and landmarks convey structure to assistive technology.
- We write descriptive alt text for images that carry meaning, and we keep decorative images out of the way of screen readers.
- We support keyboard navigation, so the site can be operated without a mouse or trackpad.
- We provide visible focus states, so it is always clear which element is selected while navigating with a keyboard.
- We respect the “reduce motion” system setting, so animation is calmed for visitors who prefer less movement.
- We aim for sufficient color contrast between text and its background, so copy stays legible.
Known limitations
We want to be honest about where we still have work to do. Some third-party embedded content, such as maps and video players, is provided by outside services, and its accessibility is partly outside our direct control. A few of our richly animated sections may also offer only partial support for every assistive technology. We are actively improving these areas, and we review them as part of our ongoing work on the site.
