Rock City Park is a park located in S Gate Rd, Danville, CA 94506, United States. Rock City, Wind Caves, and Sentinel Rock is a 1.9 kilometer heavily trafficked loop trail located near Diablo, California that features beautiful wildflowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips and is accessible year-round.

Enjoy a short hike to Sentinel Rock. It seems to be popular with young families with children. The trail to Sentinel Rock has some markers, but it’s easy to veer off the main trail as there are a lot of interesting mini trails to get to. The All Trails map made it easier to track your location. Careful with poison oak on the side of the trail. Make sure you know how it looks. It’s a nice short walk.

Rock City to the Summit of Mount Diablo is a 12.2 kilometer heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Danville, California that features beautiful wildflowers and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. From Rock City hike up to the summit. This trail offers scenic views and breathtaking climbs. Although steep in sections, it is a great hike.

This park is one of the ecological treasures of the San Francisco Bay Area. Many visitors to Mount Diablo head straight for the summit to enjoy the famous view. Summer days are sometimes hazy, and the best viewing is often on the day after a winter storm. 

Then, you can look to the west, beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Farallon Islands; southeast to the James Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton at 4,213 feet elevation; south to Mount Loma Prieta in the Santa Cruz Mountains at 3,791 feet elevation, north to Mount Saint Helena in the Coast Range at 4,344 feet elevation, and still farther north to Mount Lassen in the Cascades at 10,466 feet. 

North and east of Mount Diablo the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers converge to form the twisting waterways of the Delta. To the east beyond California’s great central valley, the crest of the Sierra Nevada seems to float in space.
